A food truck for a cause close to our hearts.
The first requirement to become a “FOCer” is to be a dog lover. So when the local animal shelter reached out to us on a fundraising opportunity, we were of course on board! On April 19, we had the amazing opportunity to pair with the Humane Society of Cambria County in a food truck fundraiser. The shelter aims to provide a second chance for the abandoned, surrendered and stray animals of Cambria County through the means of a no-kill philosophy and quality of life policy. Through donations, fundraising, grants and memberships, the caring staff and volunteers are able to care for nearly 2,000 animals in the county annually.
During our fundraising event, we set up the Flair of Country food truck in the parking lot of the shelter, where patrons could also visit with the animals inside. Unfortunately, the weather that evening was far from favorable. We were blown away by the number of community members who braved the strong winds and frigid temperatures to support the Humane Society. Guests were encouraged to bring their fur-babies to the food truck for a special homemade sweet potato treat!
“Thank you to all of those who came out tonight for dinner! And, a special thank you to Flair of Country Catering and Event Planning for working extra hard to fulfill those large orders in this weather and raising over $500. The animals are grateful!!”
Jessica Vamos, Executive Director at Humane Society of Cambria County
Our menu for the evening included:
Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese Platter
Applewood Smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich
Brooklyn Beef Sandwich
Grilled Garlic Lime Chicken Wraps
Spring Berry Salad
Grilled Potato Salad
Homemade Macaroni & Cheese
Broccoli Salad
Creamy Coleslaw
In addition to donations of food, toys, treats and necessities, we were able to raise over $500 for the shelter in just a few short hours. We are completely amazed by your love and support for not only the Humane Society, but also Flair of Country. Thank you!
